Martial artist turned Filmmaker/Entrepreneur
Born in the UK and raised across multiple continents, I chose Japan as my home at 18, driven by a passion for martial arts to study Kendo with the greats and immerse myself in Japanese culture.
After a time I traded the sword for a camera and jumped into filmmaking at University in Tokyo. Post-graduation I worked as a sound operator, videographer, and all-rounder, learning the intricacies of the industry through trial by fire at a Japanese production house. Coming out mostly unscathed, I co-founded Panic Ball Productions with my partner Lisa, taking the helm as CEO and in-house Director.
My mum, who adventured through Kenya in the 70s and traveled 43 countries in her lifetime, has always been my greatest inspiration. Her bedtime stories of wild escapades, like being swept away by a flash flood, fighting honey badgers, and flying loop-de-loops on tiny planes ignited a hunger to lead an equally adventurous life.
I found my greatest adventures on set and try to live through her teachings, steering productions with a ‘gentle fist’. My artistic style is deeply rooted in leadership; I thrive on large sets and big ideas. In my years of directing commercials, podcasts, and narratives, I’ve learned that overpreparing is the key to unlocking spontaneity.
Thus, I approach everything with rigorous preparation, ensuring that the ideas have their best ‘stage’ to perform.

Panic Ball is more than just my workplace; it's my home. Lisa, Mariko, and I built something from the ashes that has now been thriving for six years. It’s not only our livelihood but a sanctuary for like-minded creatives. We’re here in Tokyo, crafting beautiful projects and fostering environments that promote healthy work conditions, inclusivity, and female empowerment.
If you’re looking for a dedicated team to assist with full-scale production, I couldn’t recommend a more professional and thoughtful group.
